Traction

Out of all of the books on my list, this one is probably the most impactful in how I run businesses and manage my teams. It has an entire ecosystem built around It via the Entreprenuership Operaitn System.

The main premis behind the book is that it gives you a blueprint on how to run a business. This is especially relavent for startups. Here're the biggest takeaways.

  • Meeting Cadence & Rhythm

The book introduces a specific meeting structure: daily huddles, weekly meetings (L10), monthly meetings, and quarterly planning sessions. 90% of my meetings fall into one of those buckets. Each has its purpose and format. I've implemented this in my teams and it's transformed how we operate - less random meetings, more focused discussions and clear actions

  • Rocks

These are your priorities for the quarter - the 3-7 most important things that need to get done. The genius of this system is its simplicity. Instead of having 20 priorities (which means you have no priorities), you focus on a few key goals that will really move the business forward.

  • IDS (Identify-Discuss-Solve)

This is their method for problem-solving: Identify the real issues, Discuss once (no repeating the same conversations), and Solve with clear action items and owners. It seems simple but it's incredibly effective at preventing the endless discussion loops that plague many companies.
